sir,
I am directed to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of 4th. instant (No. 1904/1910) relative to the
Festival of Empire and Pageant of London to be held this Summer
in England and to state that my Committee consider this Colony's
participation in the scheme to be impracticable chiefly by
reason of the too short time available for making the necessary
arrangements. In any case, however, they would not be able to
recommend any expenditure of public money for such a purpose.
My Committee desire me to express their
appreciation of the courtesy of the Government in referring this
matter to them for comment.
